Copper scrap grades and how they price
Copper (तांबा) scrap is priced by how clean and pure it is. The cleaner the metal, the less a smelter has to refine it, and the closer your rate gets to the top of the range.

How we set today’s rate
Indian scrap rates have no official daily list. We start from the international refined copper price, converted to rupees each day, and apply a scrap factor for grade and processing cost. That is why our rate moves with the market instead of staying fixed for weeks.
Getting the top of the range
- Strip insulation if you have the time. Bare copper earns far more per kg than the same copper in a cable.
- Keep bright wire separate from oxidised or tinned copper. One mixed bag gets the lower grade.
- Remove brass and steel fittings from pipe and busbar.
- Tell us about bulk cable early. Large lots can be quoted on copper yield.

Why is bright copper priced higher than #2 copper?
Bright copper is clean and unalloyed, so it can be melted with little refining. Oxidised, tinned or soldered copper needs more processing, so it prices lower.
How is insulated copper wire priced?
Insulated wire is priced on how much copper it contains. Thick single-core wire has a high copper yield; thin multi-core cable has less.
