FAQs
Car scrapping questions, answered
Are you authorised to scrap cars?
Yes. Every car we collect is scrapped at a government-registered RVSF (Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility) as per the Vehicle Scrapping Rules, 2021. The Certificate of Deposit and Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping are issued in your name and verified on VAHAN.
Is scrapping a car legal in Mumbai?
Yes. Voluntary scrapping is fully legal and encouraged under the national Vehicle Scrappage Policy. Scrapping through a registered facility is the only way to officially cancel your registration and get the Certificate of Deposit.
How much will I get for my old car?
Most cars fetch between ₹15,000 and ₹75,000 as scrap, depending on weight, condition and parts. Send us the make, model, year and photos for an exact quote before pickup.
Do you charge for towing?
No. Towing is free across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, including for non-running and accident-damaged cars.
When and how do I get paid?
At pickup, once the documents are verified, by bank transfer or UPI. You get a payment receipt.
What documents do I need?
Original RC, owner’s ID proof (Aadhaar or PAN), a cancelled cheque or UPI ID, and a bank NOC if the car was on loan. We take the chassis number imprint and remove the number plates at pickup.
What is a Certificate of Deposit (CoD)?
It is the official proof that your vehicle has been deposited at a registered scrapping facility. It is linked to your vehicle on VAHAN, and you can use it for road-tax and registration fee benefits when you buy a new vehicle.
What is a Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping (CVS)?
It is issued by the RVSF after the car is dismantled, and confirms the vehicle has been destroyed. It is needed for the registration to be cancelled.
What road-tax benefit do I get in Maharashtra?
Maharashtra’s scheme gives a road-tax concession of up to 15% on a new vehicle of the same category registered against a Certificate of Deposit, subject to the scheme’s conditions and validity period. Keep your CoD safe for this.
Will my RC be cancelled with the RTO?
Yes. Once the car is scrapped, the registration is cancelled on VAHAN. After that, the car cannot be re-registered, resold or fined in your name.
I have lost my RC. Can I still scrap my car?
Yes. We help you with the police report and affidavit route, and verify ownership through VAHAN records before scrapping.
My car is still on loan. Can I scrap it?
Yes, once the loan is closed. You will need the bank’s NOC and loan closure letter; we guide you through it.
The registered owner has passed away. Can the family scrap the car?
Yes. The legal heir can scrap the car with the death certificate, heirship or succession documents, and their own ID proof.
What about pending challans or road tax?
We check for pending challans before pickup. They need to be cleared before the registration can be cancelled, and we tell you exactly what is pending.
Do I have to scrap my car at 15 years?
Private cars in Maharashtra can be renewed after 15 years if they pass the fitness test. Scrapping is voluntary for private cars, but at 15+ years, scrapping often pays more than renewal and repairs.
Do you scrap non-running or accident-damaged cars?
Yes. Dead, accident-damaged and flood-damaged cars are all fine. We tow them free.
What should I do with FASTag and insurance?
Close your FASTag with your bank after scrapping, and cancel your insurance with the CoD to claim any refund on the unused premium. We remind you of both at pickup.
How long does the whole process take?
Pickup usually happens within 24 to 48 hours of the quote. The Certificate of Deposit is generated once the car reaches the RVSF, typically within a few working days.
Can you scrap cars registered outside Maharashtra?
Yes. We check the documents case by case and handle the scrapping and certificates the same way.
Do you scrap company cars, taxis and fleets?
Yes. We handle single company cars and full fleet disposals, with company documentation and invoicing. See our enterprise programmes.
What happens to my car after scrapping?
It is depolluted (fuel, oil, coolant, AC gas and battery removed safely), dismantled, and the steel, aluminium, copper and plastics go for recycling.
