CRCA scrap rate: press-shop and sheet cutting scrap price

Rates for CRCA bundles, punching skeleton, sheet trimmings and GP/GI cuttings from press shops, fabricators and auto ancillaries in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Sheet scrap types and how they price

Type What it is Where it prices
CRCA cuttings / bundles Cold-rolled, uncoated sheet offcuts, often baled Near the top of the steel range: clean and low in residuals
Punching skeleton The web left after blanking parts from sheet Similar to CRCA if uncoated and dry
HR sheet cuttings Hot-rolled, thicker sheet with mill scale Slightly below CRCA
GP / GI cuttings Galvanised sheet trimmings Below CRCA because of the zinc coating
Painted or laminated sheet Pre-painted, PVC-laminated or powder-coated sheet Lower, quoted case by case

How to get a better CRCA rate

  • One bin per sheet type. A single galvanised piece in a CRCA bundle can pull the whole lot down a grade.
  • Bale or bundle if you have a baler. Dense bundles cost less to transport and get a better rate.
  • Keep it dry and oil-free. Drawing oil and rust both get deducted.
  • Ask for index-linked pricing if you generate scrap every month.

Questions we get asked

What is CRCA scrap?

CRCA is cold-rolled closed annealed steel sheet. Its scrap comes from press shops and fabricators as cuttings, bundles and punching skeleton, and is one of the cleanest ferrous scrap grades.

Why does galvanised sheet scrap fetch less?

The zinc coating has to be dealt with during melting, so mills pay a little less for GP/GI scrap than for uncoated CRCA.

Do you buy press-shop scrap every month?

Yes. We run scheduled lifts for press shops and auto ancillaries, with weighbridge slips and GST invoices for every load.
