Why does it use old sales, not this year’s?

Your obligation tracks the equipment now reaching end of life — not what you sold this year. So the base is the quantity you placed on the market one average product life ago. If a monitor has a seven-year average life, your FY 2025–26 obligation is calculated on FY 2018–19 sales.

What average life should I use?

CPCB notifies an average life for each of the 106 EEE categories in Schedule I. Published examples include seven years for monitors and electronic display panels, five years for tablets and scanners, and ten years for routers and large cooling appliances. Use your own category’s notified figure — we will confirm it for you against the current CPCB list.
